GRCH Forever Greene Talis, CGC, RN Talis became the first Chinook to win Best of Breed and the first Best of Miscellaneous Class in the first two AKC shows that Chinooks were eligible for!!!!!
Talis was Yellow puppy from our first Forever Greene litter. She was the 6th puppy born. I have been asked how I decided which pup I wanted to keep many times. There was no conscious decision. When Talis was born I just felt a closeness to her. Something special that wasn't there with the other pups. Not that I didn't love each and everyone of them very much, I just felt drawn to this little one.
Talis has grown into a beautiful, loving, goofy Chinook. Perry calls her Talis Monster. She loves nothing more than to race around the yard chasing her mother and her little sister. She still tries to get old Uncle Dukavik to play. She will nip at them and irritate them until they turn and chase her. Talis also loves her toys. I won a huge basket of toys at an Agility trial and when I put it down in the living room she promptly started taking the toys out one at a time and inspecting them. Since then we have been awakened every morning by Talis with a different toy in her mouth. When her little sister was big enough to play with toys she graciously shared her basket of toys.
Talis earned her UKC Championship in three days of shows under three different Judges. She has finished her UKC Grand Championship and has been chosen Best of Breed at both of Chinook Club of America's specialties by AKC licensed working breed judges. Talis has her mother's beautiful movement. She has good angulation and a nice broad head. Her coat is the proper length and is very plush. She has the heavier bone that we had bred for and the wonderful Chinook personality. She loves to be with people and loves kids to the point of trying to kiss their faces off. Talis will be shown at the Springfield, MA AKC cluster on July 2, 2010. This is the first show in which Chinooks will be eligible for Miscellaneous Class. Later in July 2010 I hope to be able to take her to the UKC Premier in Richmond, Indiana. Talis has qualified for the UKC's Top Ten Competition. At the present time she is the number two Chinook in UKC's top ten rating.
Talis has her AKC Rally Novice title and we will be working on the next step, Rally Advanced in the next year. She is still way to goofy to be off lead at a show. She would most likely just go play with anyone or any dog that she saw.
I believe that Talis represents everything that a Chinook should be. She has beauty, brains, good health and a goofy, loving personality. Her hips have passed OFA with a rating of fair. Her CERF is normal. She will be bred at some time but because we want to show her in AKC this summer she will not be bred until the fall of 2010 at the earliest. At this time we are still evaluating pedigrees of possible studs to determine which would be the best match for our Talis.
Check back from time to time to see what Talis has been doing and for an announcement of her breeding when the time comes.
Talis will be bred this fall to a stud that has not yet been chosen. We decided to wait because she is the number two UKC Chinook for 2009 and will be invited to the Top Ten competititon in Richmond, Indiana this July. We also want to be able to show Talis in the first AKC conformation show in which Chinooks are eligible to be entered. This will be the Wampaug Kennel Club show in Wrentham, MA on July 1.
As it should be Talis lost to the number one Chinook at the Top Ten competion in Indiana. She did win the Grand Champion Class on Friday. We are very proud of our girl and will continue her show career in AKC shows. If you would like to meet her at a show, contact us and we will give you our schedule.
