Once Patti had heard the story of the Chinook and the connection to Perry's family she just had to have one of these marvelous dogs. At a winter Chinook gathering she met Marsha and Paul Lescault and their two Chinook crosses, Sukee and Penny. Marsha was planning on breeding one of the girls soon and promised there would be a pup for Patti and Perry. Sukee was bred and when the pups were 8 weeks old Patti and Perry traveled from Maine to New Hampshire to see the pups. They chose not one, but two of the pups. The Greene-Richards connection to the Chinook breed was once again established. These two pups would become White Mountain Woods Raluk, and White Mountain Woods Dukavik.

Raluk and Dukavik are third generation crosses from a Chinook/Siberian breeding. They are now 10.5 years old and still going strong. Both brothers were neutered at 3 years old because of health concerns. This was a disappointment because we felt that with their great size, wonderful coats and sweet temperaments they would have contributed something good to the cross breeding program.

They are great workers and ever better snugglers. They spend every Sunday during football season with Patti, Perry and the girls watching the New England Patriots play. Many times Dukavik will climb into Perry's lap to get the best possible view of the TV. At 82 pounds he is quite a lapful. Raluk at 92 pounds just doesn't fit very well in a lap so he only climbs up occasionally and doesn't stay long.

As they have gotten older their playfulness has slowed, but has not completely disappeared. When the girls start chasing each other around the yard the boys try to catch them, being older and slower of course they can't catch them in a fair chase, but age and experience will always win out. The boys just cut a corner and get them. The chase keeps them young, at least at heart.
